Dr. Hoerr was a diagnostic pathologist with the Alabama state diagnostic laboratories for 32 years, and served as director of laboratories from 1987 until his retirement in 2012. During this time he held a joint appointment on the faculty of the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine where he continues to participate in poultry disease research and teach as Professor Emeritus.
