I am of the opinion these animals also suffer from subclinical mastitis as the citrate levels drop in SARA {Citrate is formed in TCA cycle - I may be wrong} Either estimating citrate levels in the blood or CMT or SURF EXCEL field mastitis test. In Bangalore Milk Union either CMT or SURF EXCEL field mastitis test is done when ever the Lactometer reading fall below 28. We dissolve 10 grams of SURF EXCEL washing powder in 250 ml water and covered with a black plastic cover and the stability of this lasts for 3 months. Test is done with equal quantity of milk and equal quantity of the above solution and is read like California mastitis test.
