Different encapsulation techniques lead to varying levels of nutrient bioavailability

Published: September 14, 2022
Summary
Lipid encapsulation has proved to be a valuable tool for protecting nutrients from degradation during processing, storage and digestion and making them available for absorption by the animal. Over the last years, many new encapsulated nutrients have entered the market. These products, and the processes that create them, differ greatly in design, technology, and unfortunately, performance. High q...

Thanks for the information shared. In the case of slow release ureas, what would be the characteristics sought in the encapsulation to achieve an adequate availability of nitrogen in the rumen?

Hello Victor,

I appreciate your inquiry about slow-release ureas, particularly in the context of NitroShure. Our goal with NitroShure is to achieve a balanced release of nitrogen, strategically positioning it between Soybean Meal (SBM) and urea. This careful calibration is pivotal to ensuring an effective synergy between carbohydrates and nitrogen.

The moderate release speed inherent in NitroShure is intentional. It facilitates the efficient utilization of nitrogen by rumen microbes, converting it into microbial crude protein. This enhancement in protein quality translates to increased milk production and/or higher milk protein content.

Importantly, it's crucial to note that if the release speed mirrors that of SBM, it could be too slow, leading to inefficient nitrogen utilization. Conversely, a release rate closer to urea might also result in suboptimal efficiency. Therefore, NitroShure's precisely adjusted release rate is specifically designed to strike an optimal balance, promoting the efficient use of nitrogen in the rumen.

Additionally, the controlled release of nitrogen from NitroShure contributes to improved fiber digestibility in the rumen. This dual benefit not only elevates nutritional value but also fosters more efficient digestion, ultimately enhancing overall production and the fat content of milk.

In summary, NitroShure's design is meticulous, aiming for a refined release of nitrogen that positively influences both production metrics and digestive health. If you have any further questions or need additional information, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Dear all,

Great article, congratulations.
I want to add a little contribution. If we combine the best encapsulation with the best "urea feed grade" (like Rumisan from Yara), with the best particle size and distribution, the results would be even better.
Again, congratulations on the article and also the reply of Marcos.

Regards,

FAG
