Weaning at 14 days in swine

Dear Users,
This is an interesting forum from our Spanish community, generated by Ervin Poou from Guatemala:

Dear friends,
I take this opportunity to solicit comments about Weaning at 14 days as an alternative to increase the piglets produced per sow per year and to reduce mortality from crushing and diarrhea in the whelping box. Please if anyone has had experience in the subject I beg to share them.

Thank you in advance!
Ervin Poou

I think it is possible to wean at 14 days after all, we have had cases of a human mother who gave birth and died immediately and the baby did not die in the cause of that. Not only that but the fact that the baby lived after the death of the mother. The only thing is that such piglets will require special attention for them to grow well and it will be very expensive .

nice idea sharing with regard to weaning piglets. it will certainly help us. there are different idea and experience. some one prefer 14 days and some one prefer 21 to 28 days, i think it is depend upon the situation. may be we are working on different situation. Any way our discussion and sharing experience should base on observation, it will be fruitful.
thank you

good discussion and sharing idea regarding weaning days.some one argue for 14 days, and other 21 t o28 days, i think it is depend upon the situation because we are working on different situation, can not compare with each other. so it will best if we work according to situation. shanker mantra_nepal@yahoo.com
