Sources of drinking water for meat chickens

Published: March 18, 2015
By: Anne Walkden

I am considering submitting a development application for eight tunnel-ventilated sheds for growing meat chickens, but I don't have access to town water or well water. Drinking water for the chickens would have to be collected from the shed roofs and pumped from dams. Would this be ok? Many thanks for your help. Anne

My farm is connected to town water, with well water as a backup. Bird flu microbes would be a worry using rainwater collected from shed roofs.
