USA - Biosecurity and pest management workshop scheduled

The 2007 North Atlantic Poultry Biosecurity and Pest Management Workshop will be held here June 2 at the University of Connecticut.
The program is sponsored by the Cooperative Extension System of the New England Land Grant Universities and the Connecticut Poultry Association Inc.
Topics will include how to identify insect pests, practical biosecurity approaches for large and small flocks, pest management and animal health issues, assessing avian influenza plans, controlling rodents and other wildlife, pesticides and rodenticides and the organic approach to pest management.
The program will qualify attendees for recertification points for a private pesticide applicator's license in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont.
