Poultry industry is a faster growing and the largest business entity of Pakistan which is producing job opportunities to million of families and serving the nation by filling the gap of availability of animal protein for a common man.
As the mushroom growth of poultry farms is not bound by any rules and regulations, management and sanitary conditions and biosecurity measures are not being observed, due to the reason many poultry farms are not upto standard. They are posing threat to the poultry birds of their farms as well as bird of neighbouring farms. Consequently, the disease outbreak on these farms is comparatively higher and the loses are more to the adjacent farms also.
The disposal of dead birds on the poultry farms is the major factor in controlling the outbreak of disease in general. The scientific way of disposal of dead birds is either by burning them in incinerator or by burying them deep in the ground in the shape of disposal pits.
In public interest and in the interest of poultry farmers it is suggested/ advised to have at least one or more disposal pits for the poultry farms having capacity of upto 10,000 birds on each and every broiler and layer farms while provision of incenerator on each and every broiler or layer breeding farms and commercial broiler or layer farms having capacity of more than 10,000 birds must be assured. The Government must initiate regulation on this aspect to safeguard the poultry industry for any future disease threat.
