It's always best to feed pigs to a weight limit rather than an age limit. Normally the starter phase is from weaning (8kg) through to 30kg (target 10 weeks of age) with a feed conversion of around 1.40 (31kg of feed). The grower phase normally runs from 30 to 60kgs (15-16weeks of age). The feed conversion will depend on your genetic but a feed conversion of less than 2 is a good (60kg of feed). The finisher phase from 60kg to market will depend on your target market weight. With reasonable genetics a 100kg live weight can be reached at 20-21 weeks of age. The feed conversion here will depend on genetics, sex (females vs entire males vs castrates) market weight etc. The crude protein level is generally only a guide and diets should be formulated to the corrected lysine to energy ratio and also to a well balanced amino acid profile. As a general rule the average crude protein level for the starter, grower and finisher phases are 19, 17 and 15%.
