Managing the quality of effluents produced by animal farms is more and more a challenge for producers. For instance in Taiwan pig farms have to follow specific regulations indicating the maximum levels for Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and Suspended Solids (SS).
Our partner in Taiwan, Suchiang Chemical and Pharmaceutical Co., has run a trial on 3 different swine farms where feeds were supplemented with ECOBIOL (Bacillus Amyloliquefaciens) at 1 kg per MT. Values for BOD, COD and SS were measured at the start of the trial and monitored for 4 consecutive months. Results on the 3 farms indicate an average reduction of 78% for DOB, 58% for COD and 62% for SS.
