Open day in Nordhorn, Germany

Alfons uit het Broek decided on expanding his operation by constructing a pig house with 2,000 finishing places. The inauguration of the new house will be celebrated on 3 July with an open day from 10pm till 4pm. Interested pig producers, relatives and friends from both sides of the German-Dutch border are welcome to inspect the brand new building and its equipment. A visit will be especially worthwhile for farmers who are planning to build a new house in a rather densely populated area and are therefore looking for an effective solution for possible emission problems.

Optimum supply in all areas

The turnkey-ready new building constructed by Big Dutchman is built from double-layer brickwork and is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. With an overall length of 92.60m and 31m width, the building houses 17 compartments plus one extra compartment with 12 pens each. Each pen will be stocked with 10 pigs. Feed is supplied by the computer-controlled Dry Exact feeding system and distributed based on weight by PicNic automatic feeders. The pigs are supplied with water by three nipple drinkers, two of which are installed at the feeder and a third drinker installed in the pen. A dispensing system which can be used to add medicine to the water, if required, allows uit het Broek to react flexibly to occurring illnesses. The entire system is governed by a MC 99 NT feeding computer which ensures precise control of the dry feeding system from monitoring of growth rates up to evaluation of the entire finishing period.

Minimised emissions

For climate control, uit het Broek has also opted for state-of-the-art computer technology from Big Dutchman: the user-friendly climate computer MC 135 ensures that the house climate is controlled precisely and reliably under observance of all major parameters. Fresh air is led from the sides to the central aisle equipped with chimneys and is from their led further into the individual compartments. Before the stale air leaves the house again, dust, ammonia and odour emissions are reduced to a minimum. This is accomplished thanks to Big Dutchman’s optimum solution for emission problems: the MagixX exhaust air washer. Depending on the required air cleaning rate, different cleaning stages are available through which the stale air is pushed by means of exhaust air fans. As a result, dust can be reduced by 95%, ammonia by approx. 70% and odours by 80%. Independent practical tests confirm MagixX's enormous performance abilities — as proven, for example, by the successful results achieved during the Dutch certification procedure.
