Dear Dr. Hurnink,
I find you article very interesting article about Growth Promotant Antibiotic Trial. since it follows the same line as our company has been doing for almost 40 years in our country in Switzerland and abroad developing immunity building micronutrition. The fact is antibiotics and growth promoting antibiotics do not replace pigs’ immunity and health as they do not allow the animal to develop their own body in a genetically natural way. The more antibiotics you use, the more resistances are created because the pathogen pressure is a matter to be solved by the immune system.
Our experience shows us the way pigs develop their maximum performance, as long as farm management and genetics are correct, is when you succeed developing their immune and metabolic systems to their full and such a goal cannot be achieved by antibiotics administered in-feed as any other feed ingredient. Another different thing is using antibiotics therapeutically when there’s a serious problem to fix. Sincerely.
