castrate growing pigs

Castration: average age

Hello from Colombia. I have a little question for this forum. I want to castrate my growing pigs. When is the average age/weight to perform the castration?
And what about anesthesia? Some say to do it without anesthesia, but I think is cruel for animals. What do you think about it? Thank you for your time.

In the U.S., everyone castrates about 2-5 days of age and no one uses anethesia. The pigs heals very quickly.

I am new to this pig production. Why do you castrate a piglet? And Roy, how come you do not use anesthesia even though pigs heal quickly?
