Lallemand will participate in the annual World Pork Expo from June 9 - 11 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines. The company's contact person during the show will be Dennis Ketelsen (319-899-1173 dketelsen@lallemand.com).
Lallemand will focus on Levucell SB, a unique probiotic and strain of live yeast, Saccharomyces boulardii 1079, which can help stabilize and restore microflora changes caused by stress, disease, or off feed events. Studies show that sows fed Levucell SB increase feed intake during lactation, particularly in the first week. Feed intake is critical for the sow in lactation in order to provide high quality colostrum to piglets. Studies show improved milk fat content with Levucell SB in the sow diet vs. control during the lactation period. Today’s prolific sow will generally have low or sporadic intake the first week post farrowing. Studies show that sows fed Levucell SB in gestation and lactation are more aggressive eating and will consume > 18# more feed during the lactation period. Studies also show reduction in pre-wean mortality and still births. Studies show that piglet diets fortified with Levucell SB will produce 6-9% improved average daily gain and 4.5-6% improved feed conversion. When pigs have heavier exit weights leaving the nursery, each pound heavier in the nursery usually equates to heavier market weights (example: 1# heavier nursery pig exit weight will usually mean 3-5# heavier market hog).
