The International Pig Veterinary Society (IPVS) will support the 333 Experience Congress, which will be held for the first time in Brazil. The online event will be on November 18th – 19th, 2021.
The program will include nine different panels. On November 19th, from 10 am to 12 pm IPVS2022 will be sharing highly relevant information on African Swine Fever (ASF) in a panel entitled A Global overview of the African Swine Fever, which will be chaired by Fernanda Almeida, and Lia Coswig, President and Biosafety Director of IPVS2022.
The speakers will include José Manuel Sánchez Vizcaíno, Professor of Animal Health at the University Complutense de Madrid (ESP) and Director of the Reference Laboratory of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) who will talk about the risk factors for the appearance of the African Swine Fever globally, as well as vaccine development, Maurício Dutra, veterinarian from the São Paulo State University (Unesp) and specialist in pig production from the University of Uberlândia (UFU) who will talk about the current scenario of ASF in Asia, prevention, detection, and control, and Christian Gortázar, veterinarian from the University Complutense de Madrid (ESP) who will discuss ASF control measures in wild boars.
The IPVS2022 President believes that the participation of the swine production chain in this event is of major relevance. According to Fernanda Almeida, IPVS2022 is happy to support an event where a topic of such importance to the pig industry worldwide will be discussed.
Fernanda Almeida also reminds us that although Brazil is an ASF-free country, it remains important to dedicate much attention to this disease. In her own words: this is a highly contagious disease that can decimate entire herds, with huge losses to the entire production chain. The President also believes that the 333 Experience Congress will give great visibility to IPVS2022.
The 333 Experience Congress will rely on the support of the Brazilian Association of Pig Producers (ABCS), IPVS, and the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture. One of the highlights of the event is certainly the presence of some of the most renown speakers in the field such as David Barcellos, Full Professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) and an expert in microbiology, as well inspiring leaders like swimmer and Olympic Gold medalist, Gustavo Borges.
