When focus on immunity and health is a top priority

Better immunity and health
Weaners must overcome several major challenges in the first 4 or 5 weeks after weaning:
  1. They must transition from sow's milk to creep feed
  2. They must build up their own immunity
  3. They must transition from highly digestible feed to more soya-based feed
These challenges can be strenuous on a piglet's gastrointestinal tract, thereby increasing the risk of diarrhoea.

Cost-effective solution that benefits weaners
Pig-Omic is a combination of organically-bound minerals that strengthen the immune response of weaners. Better immunity reduces the risk of diarrhoea.
  • Experiments conducted at Aarhus University (Foulum) show that organicallybound zinc has the best bioavailability
  • Practical veterinary experiments show that using of organic zinc reduces the need for diarrhoea treatments
  • Polish university experiments show that using organically-bound iron reduces diarrhoea.
  • Dutch experiments show that using organically-bound copper will increase productivity.
Pig-Omic should be included in the complete feed. In other words, it cannot be used as top dressing. Its use should comply with statutory feed regulations.
Pig-Omic is available in both your compound feed mix and Landmix.

Documented by scientific and practical experiments
Pig-Omic has been tested against high doses of a zinc oxide veterinary product in a herd. Besides having the same effect on diarrhoea and mortality rate, both the growth rate and feed-utilisation efficiency were at the same level.

In practice, many farmers use Pig-Omic in their herds in mix 2, 10–20 kg. This is the same interval when weaners have the greatest diarrhoea problems. And a strengthened immune response will increase piglets' ability to get through this period.

In the French test, piglets were fed normal creep feed in the first week, after which Pig-Omic was added to the feed for the next three weeks. The experiment was conducted as control – experiment – control over a 6-week period. In spite of lower weight on weaning, the batches receiving Pig-Omic showed the same growth rate.
The striking difference, however, was that the mortality rate before and after was significantly lower compared to batches that were not fed feed containing Pig-Omic.
1% fewer dead piglets means 0,5 Euro per piglet.
No more warnings
Fenstedgaard's multi site, owned by Henning Kreutzfeld, has been using Pig-Omic since April 2011. Both the figures from the efficiency control and hands-on experience show a clear effect of using Pig-Omic.

Lessons learned from using Pig- Omic at Fenstedgaard
  • Stronger, better pigs that do not suffer setbacks in the weaner unit
  • Fewer acute outbreaks of E. coli diarrhoea caused by feed changeover
  • Lowers expenses for medicine
  • Fewer dead pigs
Opportunity to alleviate oedema problems
Lars Vestergaard Jacobsen, Grenå, had problems with oedema disease when weaners were around 12 kg. Using Pig-Omic made it substantially easier to transition from a zinc-oxide veterinary medicine in the first two weeks after weaning. This has also stabilised the production process.
Lars Vestergaard Jacobsen states that Pig-Omic:
  • Stabilised his production process
  • Eased the transition from the zinc oxide veterinary product to using feed without the zinc oxide
