Fast-expanding international pig-breeding company ACMC Ltd. has appointed two agents in Germany, a key European market with a national herd of 26.3 million pigs, the largest in the EU.
The main agent, which will handle sales over the whole of Germany, is Behrens Projekt Management GmbH, a company which undertakes consultancy work throughout the EU and is based in Hatten, Lower Saxony.
The second agent, Jens-Uwe Stiefel who will deal only with the northern states is based in Husum, in Schleswig-Holstein. Jens is also involved in consultancy work.
"The appointments follow visits to ACMC's Beeford, Yorkshire, headquarters where the agents were impressed with the fecundity of the stock, together with the fact that carcase quality in the slaughter generation is maintained at the higher finished. weights practised in Germany," commented ACMC managing director Matthew Curtis.
The agents, who will initially handle sales of ACMC's AC1 parent gilt - containing genes from the hyper-prolific Chinese Meishan - will also be offering AI and PigCom, the company's popular windows-based computer recording scheme which enables farmers to analyse performance data.
