Charm Sciences announces its ROSA® Qualitative P/N kit for DON, a 3 minute strip test for the detection of DON has successfully attained the USDAs Certificate of Performance (COP) with a screening choice of 1 ppm in wheat and barley, or 0.5 ppm in wheat.
Designed specifically for the feed and grain industries, the ROSA (Rapid One Step Assay) for DON is the fastest approved test for DON, and the only approved strip test that provides a ppm reading (with optional ROSA-M Reader) and the flexibility to meet domestic and export requirements. The ROSA DON test also complies with EC No. 856/2005 that took effect July 1, 2006.
ROSA DON P/N test is the fastest and simplest test to screen for DON. Following a water extraction, the diluted sample is added to the ROSA DON strip and read after 3 minutes. The test gives an accurate result visually (Positive/ Negative) detecting DON contamination in wheat and barley samples. An optional digital ROSA-M reader stores results electronically for record keeping and reporting. The reader allows levels as low as 0.1 ppm to be measured. Charm’s mycoSOFT™ software delivers flexible and intuitive functionality with customized data trending reports.
The ROSA DON P/N lateral flow test method is time/cost efficient and requires minimal equipment and user involvement. Multiple samples can be prepared, and tested at the same time. ROSA P/N strips are uniquely packaged so that lateral flow strip only comes in contact with the sample.
This is the fourth ROSA lateral flow test to be certified by the Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration (GIPSA) unit of the USDA. The ROSA Aflatoxin Quantitative test, is the only GIPSA certified lateral flow quantitative test. It is certified for 16 grain commodities. The ROSA Qualitative Aflatoxin test is certified for aflatoxin at 10 ppb with methanol extraction, and at 20 ppb with the choice of methanol or ethanol extraction.
Fusarium Head Blight is a fungal disease that, under certain conditions, may produce DON ( Deoxynivalenol), also known as “vomitoxin,” usually in wheat, but can also affect barley, oats, and rye. Livestock are particularly susceptible to the presence of DON in feedstuffs by exhibiting signs of feed refusal.
The ROSA Mycotoxin family of tests also includes rapid strip tests for zearalenone and ochratoxin. All ROSA mycotoxin tests are available directly from Charm Sciences. Charm develops, manufactures and markets a broad range of diagnostic test kits for the food, feed, and beverage industries. Introduced in 1999, Charm’s ROSA lateral flow test strips and readers are the leading diagnostic tests employed worldwide to screen for antibiotics and aflatoxins.
