According to Reuters China, PRC imported a record volume of beef during 2013 January. It recorded at 18,489 tons with 812% year-on-year growth, while pork imported within expectation at 55,536 tons. Australia or US is likely to be crowned as the top beef exporter to China. The steady growth on meat import figures will make China a very meaty 2013.
SIAL CHINA 2013 will dedicate its hall N2 for the rising meat demand. It includes countries such as Argentina, UK, Canada, Germany, Denmark, Hungary, Australia, France, USA and more. Unlike western diet, China hadn’t been a red meat consuming nation. Along with changing diet and taste, the surging demand has altered the meat market terrain in China. SIAL CHINA 2013 is the only professional place to fulfill the rising demands in China meat market.
While beef from Australia made up 48% of the overall Chinese imported beef intake during January, volumes from Uruguay and New Zealandalso increased. Uruguay was the second largest supplier during January, rising 699% year-on-year, to 4,716 tonnes swt, with the volume from New Zealand totaling 2,983 tonnes swt - up from 265 tonnes swt in 2012 (MLA).
