Dr. Johnson’s appointment consists of 50% research, 25% teaching and 25% extension. Johnson earned her doctorate degree in animal welfare from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, her bachelor’s degree in animal science from Reading University and a master’s degree in applied animal behavior and animal welfare from University of Edinburgh. Johnson’s research interests include handling and system designs impacts on transport losses in pigs’ sow productive lifetime and pain management.
