Her research deals with the microbial ecosystem in the gastrointestinal tract of pigs, with focus on developing feed and feeding strategies that improve the gastrointestinal health and growth performance of pigs. The effects of feed, feeding strategy, age at weaning, infection pressure, and other stress factors on the development of the microbial ecosystem are investigated. The research is carried out performing in vivo studies with intact and cannulated pigs and in vitro studies with simulation models.
