Dr. Compton has won numerous awards for his teaching accomplishments
including being named a Meigs Professor, one of the highest awards for
teaching at the University of Georgia. He teaches multiple poultry science
classes including Avian Anatomy & Physiology, Introduction to Poultry Science
and Avian Biomedical Techniques. His research is focused on elucidating the
signaling pathway that regulates apoptosis and the genes that mediate it.
