IPS Advances Sire Lineup With Genomics

Following the January 2009 sire summaries, International Protein Sires (IPS) advanced their proven sire lineup through exceptional additions.  Ron Sersland, President and CEO stated, "We also bolstered our proven sire offering by utilizing the advanced gene mapping technique with the release of our first genomic tested bull."

The validation of an animal-breeding program is how well the genetics stand the test of time.  IPS has a number of bulls with emerging second crop daughters that support trustworthy genetics.  Among the leaders of this group is 6HO0990 Jet.  This Durham son leapfrogged to 1701 TPI after nearly doubling the number of tested daughters.  In addition, both 6HO999 Cole RC, a popular sire of sons, and 6HO1030 Lilyman realized significant gains with added daughters. 

IPS activated their first genomic tested bull through their proven sire lineup.  54HO0456 Mr Bolton Darwin extols an impressive +2005 GTPI.  Darwin's credentials are stellar.  They include; +3.30 type, +3.34 udder composite and +547 NM$.  Darwin's pedigree is comprised of the Holstein breed's elite.  Sired by Bolton, his dam is Miss Durham Dolly (EX-92).  The grandam is Miss Lee Majestic (EX-91-GMD).  And the next dam is Miss Mark Maui (EX-95-GMD).  These bovine matrons have impeccable production with superior components.

6HO1141 J-Roc De Awsome is a noteworthy proven sire addition.  Sired by Derry, Awsome is from a high producing Very Good-87 daughter of J-Roc Aerodust, a homebred and well-balanced A.I. proven sire.  This newcomer touts impressive type stats at +2.47.  In addition, Awsome's udder traits are exceptional.  At +2.16 UDC, the Awsome daughters are +3.00 for both height and width of rear udder.  And the bull improves size and scale being +3.03 for stature.

The addition of 6HO0987 Holden offers another solid type bull to the IPS lineup along with good production.  Holden emerges with +2.32 type and +2.27 for udder composite.  His linear scores are formidable for udder depth and rear teat placement at +3.34.  Holden has inherited superior health and fitness traits from his maternal family.  Sired by Brant, Holden's dam is a Very Good daughter of Mtoto while his grandam is a Very Good daughter of Rudolph.

Dehorning cattle with genetics has caught on with dairy farmers around the world.  In meeting this growing demand for polled genetics, IPS has released 6HO0794 Burket-Falls Poll Answer PC.  Utilizing this nicely balanced production/type bull in the typical herd will result in 50% of his offspring being naturally hornless.  Poll Answer is sired by Morty and from the renowned Burket-Falls Elevation Sophia (EX-93-GMD) cow family at Burket-Falls Farm of East Freedom, Pennsylvania.
