The LCA study, conducted in collaboration with Blonk consultants, assessed Actisaf® Sc 47’s environmental footprint from cradle to farm gate. Results showed that incorporating Actisaf® Sc 47 into dairy diets can lead to a reduction in carbon footprint by up to 5%, primarily due to enhanced feed efficiency. This reduction, equivalent to removing approximately 20 new cars from EU roads annually per typical European dairy farm, underscores the substantial environmental impact of Actisaf® Sc 47 adoption.

In addition to dairy farming, Actisaf® Sc 47 plays a crucial role in advancing sustainability in beef production. A separate LCA study on fattening period in beef, conducted in 2022 with EVEA, demonstrated significant reductions in CO2 impact ranging from 3.8% to 6.6%. These findings highlight Actisaf® Sc 47’s efficacy in optimizing feed efficiency and minimizing environmental footprint in beef production systems.

Recently the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has issued a positive opinion regarding the re-authorization of Actisaf® Sc 47 for cattle for fattening in the EU. The EFSA Scientific Panel on Additives and Products concluded that Actisaf® Sc 47 is efficacious as a zootechnical additive for cattle for fattening, further validating its safety and effectiveness across both dairy and beef sectors.
