The Prestage Department of Poultry Science from North Carolina State University invites you to participate in the North Carolina Broiler Supervisor's Short Course on April 21st, 2021.
We continue to work with local and state health officials, as well as NC State and N.C. A&T State Universities, to monitor the evolving coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. To help prevent the spread of the virus, Poultry Extension has moved the N.C. Broiler Supervisors’ Short Course to an online format.

Dr. Jesse C. Campbell. Assistant Extension Professor. National Poultry Technology Center (NPTC). Auburn University. Alabama Cooperative Extension System, and the Biosystems Engineering Department. Jess has BS in Poultry Science and Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Technology from Auburn University. His primary focus is poultry house design, construction, management and troubleshooting environmental control systems. He has a 20-year-old daughter, Taylor, at Auburn University studying Psychology. He has two very active boys, Dax is 13 and Jake is 14, and wife Jill is a middle school teacher in Opelika, AL, just outside of Auburn. They all enjoy spending time at home together in the woods.
Dr. Guillermo Zavala. DVM - National Autonomous University of Mexico. MAM, MSc and PhD – University of Georgia. Postdoctoral work at UGA and University of Melbourne. Dr. Zavala has worked for 2 vaccine companies; one primary breeder company; one diagnostic laboratory; 11 years as faculty at UGA doing research, clinical extension and teaching. Currently owner and founder at Avian Health International, LLC, a poultry consulting doing veterinary work in over 50 countries. Remains as an adjunct professor at UGA, where he collaborates in teaching avian virology, poultry diseases and poultry husbandry.
Dr. Michael P. Martin. DVM, MPVM, ACPV. Director of Poultry Programs, Veterinary Division. N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Dr. Martin has been the Director of Poultry Programs at the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services for over three years. Previously, he was Associate Professor at the N.C. State University, College of Veterinary Medicine where he was the head of poultry clinical activities and residency program. He obtained his veterinary degree, Masters of Preventative Medicine (MPVM), and poultry medicine residency training from the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of California, Davis and is a board-certified Diplomate by the American College of Poultry Veterinarians.
Dr. Maarten De Gussem. DVM, is founder and Poultry Consultant at Vetworks (Belgium), a team of selected poultry experts servicing the poultry industry and providing support on poultry health topics including Gut Health, Mycoplasmosis, Coccidiosis, Salmonella, Avian Influenza, Biosecurity and Food Safety. Besides his work at Vetworks, Maarten is academic adviser at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Ghent University and a member of scientific committees of Poultry Mycoplasma Conference and of IHSIG Conference on Poultry Intestinal Health. Maarten De Gussem is also author of Broiler Signals, a leading broiler management book available in over 12 languages.
