Maxine is PhD candidate from the Animal Welfare Science Centre in the University of Melbourne studying piling behaviour in Australian free-range laying hens. This research is being conducted within a large epidemiological study investigating smothering in Australian free-range laying hens.

Md. Sohel Rana is a Civil servant of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and a veterinarian by profession. He is serving as a ‘Veterinary Surgeon’ under the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Bangladesh. Sohel is now a 3rd year PhD candidate and working in collaboration with the UNE Poultry Health Research Group and the Animal Behavior and Welfare Group of CSIRO, Armidale site, Australia. He is passionate about developing new technologies for sustainable layer production systems by improving laying hen behaviour and welfare. Traveling and sightseeing are his hobbies because he loves natural creature and their beauty.

Mark Stevenson is a veterinary epidemiologist with expertise in the area of infectious disease epidemiology, spatial epidemiology and simulation modelling of infectious disease spread. He is currently Professor of Veterinary Epidemiology (One Health) at The University of Melbourne.

Automated flock density and movement estimation for welfare monitoring in commercial egg farms

Jian Zhang is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Engineering and IT at UTS working on cutting-edge research in Computer Vision. As Director of the Multimedia Data Analytics Lab in the Global Big Data Technologies Centre at UTS, Jian built an award-winning, cross-disciplinary UTS research and engineering team, uniquely focusing on computer vision research for the Agri-food sector. He led the establishment of a solid UTS project pipeline, from his lab research to technology development and commercialisation pathway. These projects are funded by Australian Rural Research and Development Corporations (RDCs) including Meat & Livestock Australia/LiveCorp and Australian Eggs.

Automated detection of flock health, behaviour and weight with machine vision in commercial broiler sheds

Cheryl is a senior research fellow in mechatronic engineering. She completed her PhD in 2009 and has been a full time researcher since then. Her research involves development of machine vision technologies for agriculture. She has led projects for the cotton, sugar, beef and poultry industries.
