The launching of the next edition of the congress which will take place during October 2009, have gathered the Latin American poultry industry elite in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
Businessmen, poultry farmers and poultry entities representatives from all over Latin America attended the cocktail to launch the next edition of the Latin American Poultry Congress to be held in October 6-9, 2009 at the city of La Habana, Cuba.
All guests were welcome with genuine Montecristo cigars and lots of conga music, the typical rhythm of the island, and the country that is already getting ready to organize the next edition of the show.
According to the President of the XXI Latin American Poultry Congress, Dr. MV Alberto Ramirez Moreno, “we are setting up the most charismatic and welcoming event ever. We’re investing on structure and logistics as no one ever did before to promote the unity of the poultry industry”, he stated.

Presentation and invitation by the organizers outlined that Cuba has a complete structure which includes a conventions and events center, considered one of the top centres in Latin America, with 11 conference halls besides a 3,000 m2 wide area for the show, plus the logistics and a renewed hotels net.
“For the Cuban poultry farmers it is a commitment and joy to receive all the Latin American colleagues. At this very moment we’re in full campaign to increase the egg consumption, which went from 275 per capita/year to 300 per capita/year. There is currently a national campaign of public health to encourage the consumption. Cuba is a country with a free of disease status, and it’s widely recognized by FAO and OIE, thanks to the integration and investment on research”, explains Alberto Moreno.
According to the President of the XXI Congress, Cuba posses today 12 pure parentages in poultry genetics, and already keeps the 18% of the entire worldwide fowl genetics, as a direct result of the training encouraged by the Cuban Society of Poultry Producers and Researchers.

I don't know if there is another place on earth called Cuba, but the Cuba I know is a country where the chicken business as well as any other business in the country is owned by the government and run very poorly. That is why chicken meat has been rationed since 1963 and many times they don't even comply with the official rations and people have to go to the black market and pay more for chicken than any one would pay for caviar in any other country. So I am surprised to see a gathering of chicken producers in a place like that.
