The objective of this presentation should not be other than to raise a clear and through real life examples of the Latin American poultry farmer of the importance of each of your companies culture Biosecurity, which is capable of effectively counteract the health challenges which is subject to the current population of laying hens, always thinking that the egg has been, is and will be the animal protein of lower economic value.

Understanding The Meaning Biosecurity
- Biosecurity is a culture not a program. (It has been scientifically proven that a culture is not changed in less than three years.)
- Biosecurity is a belief, must be set to a process of internal credibility; must write and perform with total conviction.
- Biosecurity is a tool that should be implemented and practiced at all levels within the farms and for them a good education is essential and mostly a good awareness by the user.
- Biosecurity should be considered as a strategic element for the direction of the company. If it does not remains a secondary issue and therefore un important. The cost of a Biosecurity culture should be taken as investment.
- Biosecurity Is the frontier or limit between profit or loss in a given time a company.
- Biosecurity Increase the production and economic performance and is the cheapest and most effective method of disease control.
A Culture of Biosecurity should be simple, understandable by all workers on the farm, complete, practical and flexible. Limit should not be and should not be in the implementation of standards but must check them and correct them in time.

Conceptual Biosecurity
Refers to:
Geographic location of farm in relation to risks, construction type of bird houses in relation to other structures, design of building and structures on the farm, orientation of booths, natural barriers, and distance between farms.

Structural Biosecurity

Common Biosecurity Rules:
- No live poultry at home
- Shower-in and/or change into clothes worn only on the farm.
- No unnecessary visitors.
- No unnecessary employees inside poultry houses.
- Lock the poultry house and gates to prevent unauthorized entry.
- Thoroughly clean and disinfect equipment brought to the house.
- All outside vehicles should be cleaned and disinfected.
- Conduct a routine serological testing program.
- Test new pullet flocks before housing.

The biggest risk may have a poultry production is not having a Biosecurity plan; hence Biosecurity is a vital part of any poultry company to reduce the occurrence of diseases in birds.

risk assessement analysis must be done at the level of Area ,Farm ,and House for more concentration about main weak points and doing good biosecurity strategic plane.
