Rotation of piggeries: weight drop?

Published: February 16, 2007
By: Rita Di Napoli
Properly controlled, it is necessary to rotate the pigs in their pigpens after any treatment whose main goal is to aerate and avoid stress on animals. My studies in two piggeries of 50 pigs each one, exposed a weight drop in normal conditions on the first one (applying this technique), compared to the second one (no technique applied). The last pigpen kept the average weight expected according to their nutrition. I’ll appreciate your comments and suggestions.
