Dr. Raboy is a Research Geneticist with the United States Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Research Service in Aberdeen, Idaho. Dr. Raboy’s lab was the first to isolate “low phytic acid” mutations in crop species, starting with maize in 1989 and 1990, and proceeding to barley, rice, soybean, wheat and other crops. Although the major agricultural crops are primarily used for feeds and foods, there has been a relative lack of interaction between the fields of animal and human nutrition and plant/crop science.
