Charles Brearley has worked in the field of inositol phosphate biochemistry since the early 1990s. He held an Advanced Research Fellowship of the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, UK, and is currently a member of faculty of the School of Biological Sciences, University of East Anglia, UK. His especial interest is the metabolism of inositol phosphates and the synthesis and turnover of inositol hexakisphosphate in plants, though he has also described pathways of inositol phospholipid synthesis in animal cells.
