Issue with my double screw extruder
Mr. Ariyo,It seems that you are talking about twin-screw extruder. Double screw extruders are extruders with two single screws mounted separately on the equipment. From what you have mentioned, it's not clear what changes in other ingredients do you do when you increase the CP to be >30%.Floatation of the feed is an effect caused by the expansion starch in the formula. A minimum 20% starch is h ...

Extrusion Processing: A Versatile Technology for Producing Foods and Feeds
Overview – What Is Extrusion? The word extrusion means shaping a material or a blend of materials that can be plasticized (able to be melted and become fluid-like), and is pumpable by forcing through a restricted opening or die.The versatility of the process is evident in its ability to produce different types of foods. The power of the process can be further appreciated by its ...

Pellet Quality and Nutrient Segregation on the Farm
I would also point out that pelleting strategy plays a role here. Improved quality has often been shown to improve efficiencies, and now this and similar data is providing a good focus on impacts related to segregation. However, we also have data that demonstrates that common methods for improving quality (high conditioning temperatures and retention times, thicker pellet dies, lower throughputs) ...

Pellet Quality and Nutrient Segregation on the Farm
Kindly add pellet binder like bentonite @1% in the mixer and also 1 litre of geltin to make pellet slightly harder which will reduce powder % and segregation will reduce.Regard.

Pellet Quality and Nutrient Segregation on the Farm
Hi John, In regards to flock uniformity, we find the birds ate the end of the feed lines are generally heavier at a given age due to the significantly reduced levels of fines. The challenge we have here (as with most feed millers I suspect) is they push the throughput to spread their fixed costs which can often impact on pellet quality. If you can quantify the improvement in things like flock unif ...

Pellet Quality and Nutrient Segregation on the Farm
Mike Stahl, I know I'm late to respond to this tread, but if you happen to blow your feed from the mill to the bins, maybe look into getting a "cyclone" on top of the bin and also a 12 inch pipe with 4 inch holes made all along that pipe and have it hanging in the bin so that the feed that is blown/delivered from the mill will first fall into the 12 inch pipe and then flow out into the bin evenly ...

Optimising pellet processing to boost pellet quality and profitability
The production of pelleted feed is a complex and expensive activity. Optimising the manufacturing process is therefore important to maintain production profitability, making it necessary to collect all relevant data along the processing chain. It is also essential to understand the parameters that affect the pelleting process. Evaluation needs to address three key factors: pellet quality, animal p ...

Good quality feed pellets - Does it make sense?
Dear Mr. Ambalkar, in pelleting process you can't omit the conditioner since it is one of the Important part of the process since at conditioner you are cooking the materials to make it gelatinize for better digestibility, second it sterilize the compound feeds, third it will help to increase your throughput of your pellet mill with lesser electricity costs. Forth, you will have better FACT if you ...
