The feed material characteristics

Hi, I just finished my study and started to work in a feed company as technical. I sent the factory a formulation and they ask me to send them the raw material characteristics. Anybody knows what does it means in feed production? Which characteristics of raw material they need to produce feed? And how could I find it?
