SIAL CHINA 2012 – A Sweet After Taste

On 9th May 2012, Asia's largest food & beverage show broke its own record at Shanghai New International Expo Centre! The 3-days show reached the finishing line with a huge unprecedented success and left its exhibitors & visitors sweet after taste.

The 13th edition SIAL CHINA 2012 attracted over 40,722 professional visitors over its 73,200 sqm exhibition space. There is no better way to break the good news by laying down the show figures and its y-o-y growth rate:

On May 9th, a large delegation of Ministers, Ambassadors, Consuls and Trade officers participated to the Opening Ceremony of SIAL CHINA 2012.

Most of all the pavilions were represented. China, with the director of China Commerce Development Center, Director General of Zhejiang Provincial Department of Agriculture, Secretary General of China Food and Packaging Machinery Industry Association, Executive Director of China Dairy Industry Association, Vice Executive President & Secretary General of China Aquatic Products Processing and Marketing Association, Deputy Director General of Department of Commerce of Shandong Province, Director General of Foreign Economic Cooperation Center, Ministry of Agriculture, Deputy Secretary of the CPC ZhangZhou Municipal Committee. France, with the Consul General of France in Shanghai; The guest country of Honor - Brazil, was represented by Secretary of Production and Agroenergy of the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply. Without forget UAE, Poland, Tunisia, Ireland, Germany, Portugal, Greece, Hungary, Chile, South Africa, Turkey, Italy, Czech, Morocco, Philippines, Netherlands, India, Spain, Singapore, Argentina, Japan, Korea, and many more... 

In partnership with ESCOFFIER for its 5^th edition, more than 40 International Chefs disclosed their culinary secrets during La Cuisine by SIAL.

On May 9^th  morning, 8 young chefs from 8 different countries and regions in Asia competed for the Best Young Asian Chef; in the afternoon,  4 team final selected from 5 stars hotels in Greater China competed for the best Culinary Team Award for its first edition.  On 10^th May, they awarded the Thai Candidate, Mr Amnad Tanasombat the title of the "Best Asian Young Hope Chef" and the Macau Team the title of the "Best Culinary Team"

SIAL Innovation competition, showcase of the latest food and beverage exhibited in SIAL CHINA has revealed for its 8^th edition 35 selected innovative products from more than 8 worldwide countries. 1 Awarding Prize has been given by our professional jury to Shijiazhuang Junlebao Dairy from China for its La Smooth Tiramisu Pudding

SIAL CHINA's very first hospitality & retail forum, where visitors meet HoReCa and retail professionals. It offered a highly b-2-b platform for industry information presenting, exchange, trading and negotiation, a special zone combined with forum and One-to-One meeting.

Wine & Gourmet World Shanghai, for its 2^nd edition attracted more than 350 exhibitors coming from the Old and the New World.

Under the patronage of OIV-International Organization of Vine and Wine, the 4^th edition of the Wine Innovation Forum, an educational area dedicated to the wine culture (Geographical area and grapes varieties) has been a huge success. More than 19 conferences and tasting have gathered an audience of 5000 visitors.

For its 13th Edition, a panel of 15 judges made of wine buyers, sommeliers, specialists, wine educators, bar tenders from Hotels and Restaurants, journalists from Professional media, performed a blind tasting of totally more than 92 wine and spirits submitted by the exhibitors. This event helps to identify the products sold by SIAL CHINA exhibitors who offer the best value for money.

9 prizes have been awarded in 9 different categories - 1 new category has been built for Brazil Cachaca as the honor prize - Brazil being the guest Country of Honor of SIAL CHINA 2012.
