Sustainable livestock production is fundamental to economies across South America, so how can the industry improve its environmental impact, and integrate animal health, food safety and security for better planetary and human health? To answer this question, nine cutting-edge regional animal agtech start-ups will pitch their innovative technologies at the virtual Animal AgTech South America Summit on June 30-July 1.

South American Start-Up Arena – June 30
Day one of the summit spotlights start-ups with solutions ready to disrupt agricultural practices and consumption habits in the region. Accelerators AgTech Garage, BASF Agrostart, Bolsa De Comercio De Rosario and Chile Global Ventures will each introduce their pick of exciting agri-food start-ups, who in turn will present their technology and business model to a global delegation. The audience will vote for the start-up with the greatest potential, with the standout innovators being announced at the end of the day.

Start-Up Pitching Session – July 1
A highlight of the day two program, five exciting animal agtech start-ups will present their solutions, from mobile farming apps to IoT solutions, before answering questions from seasoned investors Flavio Zaclis, Founder at Barn Investments and Gonzalo Perez, Founder Partner at Arpegio.
Flavio Zaclis reveals: “Brazil and LATAM are global leaders in ag, food and livestock production. Start-ups that have created a product or service that addresses the many inefficiencies of this industry have a great chance creating successful and scalable businesses.”

Meet the Nine Featured Animal AgTech Start-Ups:
Alytix (Argentina): has developed a bacteriophage platform to improve animal and human health, reducing the unnecessary use of antibiotics and increasing environmental sustainability.
Beeflow (Argentina & USA): is a biotech company that applies scientific knowledge and technologies into bee pollination that increases crop yields for farmers by up to 60%.
BitCow/Openbit (Argentina): Openbit promotes financial inclusion by the tokenization of real assets, providing a simple, quick and reliable service, which operates through a digital platform. Openbit provides a full service as ‘Tokenization Oracle’ (B2B), from the individualization of the asset in the physical world to its digitization through the ‘Token’, and its commercialization on the platform (B2C). Openbit issued its first token called ‘BitCow’ a token backed by a real active asset: an in-calf cow.
Carnes Validadas (Argentina): is a platform that allows asset tokenization through blockchain extended traceability. As a communication channel between actors in the meat supply chain it provides confidence, clarity and transparency to meat production, enabling financial tools and opportunities.
Cattler (Argentina): aims to digitalize the cattle farming industry and contribute to a more efficient, profitable, accountable, and sustainable activity. By resolving data integration bottlenecks at feedyards and cattle farms, it allows farmers to run their operations seamlessly with a unique mobile interface which automatically collects data from different devices and provides them with a simple but effective analytics platform for management decision-making.
Central Da Boi (Brazil): is an online ecosystem that facilitates the commercialization of livestock and inputs. It is working to achieve more than 2 million farmers and brokers who negotiate more than $350bn annually. The company delivers automation and transparency through a platform that aims to transform the digital livestock market into an environment of trust and business.
Hakkuna (Brazil): produces healthy and natural foods, with high protein content for both animal and human consumption, made from insect protein.
OnFarm (Brazil): has developed a management and decision-making platform in dairy farming for mastitis control. A simple, innovative and unique solution that allows the identification of the cause of mastitis in 24 hours, on the farm itself (microbiological culture).
Systech Feeder (Brazil): is a hardware and software platform that evaluates concentrate intake and dairy calf performance during the pre-weaning phase in real time. Its software monitors and indicates relevant information including the absence of concentrate, a decrease in calf consumption, as well as the precise moment to begin weaning, with all information accessible via mobile app.
