ARLINGTON, Va. – The Institute for Feed Education and Research (IFEEDER) has released its latest annual update, summarizing its efforts to advance a sustainable animal feed and pet food supply chain through research and education. Over the past year, IFEEDER has collaborated with industry partners and stakeholders on several projects aimed at addressing the evolving needs of the animal food industry.
“A diverse set of organizations make up the animal food industry and supply chain, and each of their perspectives brings an important contribution to our work,” said Lara Moody, IFEEDER executive director. “We’ve worked hard to broaden the scope of project investors and provide opportunities for their engagement in projects that will benefit the industry."
Key highlights from the report include the launch of new sustainability tools, initiation of research into feed and pet food ingredient consumption, work to improve feed ingredient life cycle assessments, advancements in swine nutrition requirements based on feed industry feedback and support of public-private partnerships aimed at methane mitigation in livestock.
In addition to its research initiatives, IFEEDER continues to work with the American Feed Industry Association's Equipment Manufacturers Committee to support industry education by raising over $42,000 to support scholarships that benefit students pursuing careers in the feed and grain sciences. The report showcases IFEEDER’s ongoing commitment to engage with the industry through a variety of outreach efforts, including participating in industry podcasts and launch of a new website, blog and monthly newsletter and posts to LinkedIn.
One-hundred percent of IFEEDER donations support research, education and sustainability initiatives for the animal food industry. For more information on getting involved with IFEEDER’s projects or to view the full annual update, visit ifeeder.org.
