Dr. David Akinde will be one of the speakers at the FIAAP Animal Nutrition Conference 2017 that will take place in Cologne, Germany, on June 14th.
Akinde is a feed nutrition service provider and bioengineer who has developed an international career in R&D and feed additives innovation across EMEA feed markets. He has a strong research program on amino acid nutrition and sustainable feeding of farm animals; which continues to result intelligent feed applications that are creating value for the industry. He is professionally connected with the WPSA German branch, the European Federation of Animal Science and serves on the board of Fusion Biosystems GmbH, a German nutrition and health company.
His lecture at this event will be "Cassava as a surrogate for corn – how high can we go in broiler diets?" and will start at 16:00 pm at the Koelnmesse Convention Center in Cologne, Germany.
"Though cassava does have its strengths, poor nutrient levels and the presence of cyanogens, which causes cyanide poisoning in animals when present beyond threshold limits, present a challenge for animal feed formulators. To overcome these issues, recent studies look at the use of free methionine as thiol precursor for in vivo cyanide detoxification", explains the preview on his presentation on the event's website.
"The research suggests no negative effect on growth, carcass yield and meat quality parameters when corn was completely replaced in the presence of increased ingestion of methionine. Could cassava completely replace corn under practical feed formulation? Dr. David Akinde will explore this possibility".
