NCSRT, Inc. recently received three U.S. patents for its SmartFlow(TM) technology that provides unprecedented separation and purification of milk, whey and colostrum while minimizing waste, protecting the environment and providing enhanced economic benefits to dairy producers.
Employing cross flow filtration, chromatography and fermentation to separate and fully fractionate usable milk components, the system contributes to the production of a wide variety of consumer and nutraceutical products, including baby formula, process cheese, and nutritional supplements.
According to NCSRT President and CEO Henry Kopf III, the superior fluid dynamics in SmartFlow technology optimize membrane use and expand the performance limits of traditional Cross Flow Filtration (CFF) and Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF).
"Our SmartFlow technology provides dairy processors the ability to cost effectively produce multiple fractions of milk and whey not previously possible. The ability to produce inexpensive dairy fractions provides the opportunity to manufacture a number of end products with improved nutrition such as infant formula, sports supplements and other value-added dairy-based products," said Kopf.
NCSRT offers a complete line of the patented CONSEP(R) SmartFlow modules, including CONSEP 3000, CONSEP 7000 and CONSEP 11000. These flat sheet filter modules are available in a wide range of membrane materials and pore sizes.
NCSRT offers innovative filtration, separation and purification solutions for biotechnology, biopharmaceutical processing, animal healthcare, dairy processing, and enzyme manufacturing. NCSRT technical engineers have developed customized process solutions that fulfill the diverse ultrafiltration, microfiltration, nanofiltration, reverse osmosis, and chromatography challenges of companies worldwide.
