Canada - Semex Alliance Announces New CEO

The Semex Alliance is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Larmer to the position of Chief Executive Officer effective June 11, 2007. With over 23 years of experience in the bovine genetics industry, Paul brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience from his previous roles in sire procurement, genetic mating, marketing, sales and general management. “We are very pleased to have Paul join Semex. With his exceptional leadership skills, industry knowledge, and extensive international experience, Semex will continue to be the global leader in bovine genetics,” says Martin Caron, President, Semex Alliance Board of Directors. Familiar to the Semex Alliance family, Paul joined joined United Breeders (a precursor to Gencor) in Guelph, Ontario and began his first of many roles at United Breeders as a Sire Analyst. In 1990 he was named Director of Marketing and was promoted to General Manager in 1995. Within this role Paul worked closely with the United Breeders Board of Directors and the Western Ontario Breeders to facilitate the merger and formation of Gencor as it is known today. A successful General Manager, Paul was key in the formation of the Semex Alliance in 1997. He worked closely with the Westgen, Centre d’insémination artificielle du Québec (CIAQ), Eastern Breeders Inc. (EBI) General Managers to form this new partnership in the genetics industry which he joined as Senior Sales and Marketing Manager. In this role Paul and his team enjoyed strong sales, and greatly contributed to Semex's current status as a leader in genetics worldwide. For the past three years Paul has led Sales and Business Development within the Americas for Alta Genetics Inc. A strong promoter of youth, Paul serves on the Board of Trustees of The Ontario Youth Trust Fund and is a Past Chair of the 4-H Ontario Foundation. "I am extremely proud to join Semex and work with the talented team of people to lead Semex to continuing as a global leader through increased sales and value to our partners," says Paul. Paul, his wife Margaret and their daughters Catherine and Hannah reside in Guelph, Ontario, Canada.
