Throughout 2022, the Animal Nutrition & Health team intensified the focus on helping global agriculture meet the challenge of feeding an ever-growing population, sustainably. And that challenge will only be met with a commitment to improving overall efficiency, starting with protein and water.
Concentrating on Concentration
As a leader in animal feed technologies, Balchem is driving the innovations that will change our future. One innovation that is having immediate environmental impact is increasing the concentration of many of our products. By advancing core technologies in our encapsulated nutrients, we are helping livestock producers accomplish more with less. By increasing nutrient content delivered per unit, we are reducing transportation and excess excretion’s impact on the environment.
Our line of encapsulated products delivers nutrients more precisely and efficiently to meet the animal’s nutritional needs for maximum production while reducing input needs and minimizing animal waste.
Balchem’s Animal Nutrition and Health team launched ReaShure®-XC Precision Release Choline into the European, Middle Eastern and African markets in 2021. With a new, highly refined, and concentrated core, ReaShure-XC reduces the carbon footprint through lowered transportation costs and reduced emissions while delivering proven production benefits to the cow.
Our AminoShure®-XM Precision Release Methionine helps reduce the protein required in cattle diets by delivering precise amounts of specific amino acids to the lower gut where it can be absorbed and utilized by the cow. This impacts our planet in many ways. First, by reducing the amount of plant protein fed, we can effectively reduce the amount of land required to produce milk. Next, by reducing the amount of nitrogen fed in the form of protein, we can effectively reduce the amount of nitrogen excreted into our environment.
NitroShureTMPrecision Release Nitrogen helps cows more efficiently utilize home-grown forages, reducing the amount of land required to support profitable milk production while reducing the amount of nitrogen that is excreted into the environment by as much as 40%.
The new KeyShure® Plus family of amino acid chelated minerals delivers some of the highest mineral content in the chelated mineral industry. This higher concentration requires less space in premixes for formulation flexibility but also reduces the carbon footprint by lowering transportation costs and emissions.
