Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre
Brisbane - Australia
The organising committee has great pleasure in extending a warm invitation to everyone with interests in the poultry and allied industries to attend the 23rd World´s Poultry Congress which will be held in Queensland, Australia from 29 June - 4 July 2008.
June/July are wonderful months to visit sub-tropical Brisbane. It will be mild and is normally bright and sunny, with day time temperatures ranging from 12- 24°C. Located in the heart of Brisbane, the venue for this major international event is the modern and beautifully appointed Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
We are very pleased to announce that the 6th Asian-Pacific Poultry Health Conference (AP6), the 4th International Ratite Science Symposium (4IRSS) and the 2008 Australian Poultry Information Exchange (PIX2008), will run concurrently with the Congress. The Congress program has been closely integrated with these affiliations, with AP6 primarily covering the Bird Health and Disease stream. There will also be two satellite meetings taking place in conjunction with WPC2008: The 10th Avian Immunology Research Group meeting to be held from the 26 to 29 June at the Gold Coast and the 8th International Marek´s Disease Symposium to be held from the 6 to 10 of July in Townsville.
The scientific and technical program will be topical and relevant to the needs of the poultry industries in 2008. Speakers with expertise in identified areas of interest and importance to industry, science and technology will be invited to share their knowledge with delegates in both plenary and symposia sessions. Contributed papers will be critical to the success of the meeting and the organising committee is keen to receive submissions across a wide spectrum of activity relevant to the future development of poultry science and the poultry industries.
The Congress will include an extensive trade exhibition, which will be the largest ever staged in Australia. It will provide an ideal opportunity to network with colleagues and industry associates.
The Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, Australia's most awarded convention centre, is a purpose-built world class venue offering superb flexibility and versatility, with its major appeal being its team of personable and professional staff.

6th Asian-Pacific Poultry Health Conference (AP6) will be the forum for the main poultry diseases stream within the XXIII World´s Poultry Conference. The theme will be From Pasteur to Genomics: Past, Present and Future Control of Poultry Disease. Sessions will be based around the most economically important diseases of poultry and will include major control success stories as well as challenges for sustainable control and how researchers are addressing those challenges. Highlights will be sessions on avian influenza, and control of necrotic enteritis in broilers without reliance on antibiotics. The conference committee and convenors welcome delegates to participate in AP6.
4th International Ratite Science Symposium. The Ratite Science Symposium is an international scientific conference dedicated to ratite species (ostriches, emus, rheas, cassowaries and kiwis). The science areas covered include reproduction, genetics, incubation, nutrition, growth and development, health and welfare, and conservation. Each plenary session will be presented by an invited keynote speaker highlighting up-todate knowledge on captive-bred and wild ratite species and challenges facing ratite science, the industry and governments. Papers and posters on all aspects of ratite biology, farming and conservation will also be presented. The Symposium is planned to conclude with the industry workshops. The organisers of the Symposium, Dr Irek Malecki (Chairman, Organising Committee) and Dr Phil Glatz (Vice Chairman) cordially invite students, researchers, farmers, the ratite industry and government agencies to attend the event.
2008 Poultry Information Exchange (PIX2008). The Poultry Information Exchange (PIX) is a major Australasian poultry conference event attracting an audience of approximately 600 attendees. It is a technical conference aimed at the production sector of the poultry industry. That is farmers, staff from meat chicken, egg and breeder farms, hatcheries and processors and people from the service industries. Our speakers are conscious of the audience´s needs and will present information in a simple non-scientific style. The PIX Association through its linkage with the XXIII World´s Poultry Congress 2008 invites you to attend the 2008 Poultry Information Exchange.
