May 23, 2005 - May 26, 2005 Golden Tulip Parkhotel Doorwerth The Netherlands The Dutch Branch of the World's Poultry Science Association and the Organising Committee Symposia 2005 cordially invites you to the "17th European Symposium on the Quality of Poultry Meat" and the "11th European Symposium on the Quality of Eggs and Egg Products" which will be held in Doorwerth, The Netherlands. The venue is the Golden Tulip Parkhotel Doorwerth, Doorwerth, The Netherlands, also the venue of the 1991 Symposia on the Quality of Poultry Meat, Eggs and Egg Products. Keynotes and state-of-the-art lectures, oral presentations and poster sessions will form the forum for information and dissemination during the symposia. The symposia should be the meeting place for all involved in these areas of poultry science, making a bridge between academia and industry. Technical excursions Subject to sufficient participation on Thursday 26 May 2005 a number of technical excursion will be organised. The excursions (min 10 persons, max 30 persons per excursion) will concentrate on state of the art aspects of the relevant part of the industry. Preliminary indication of interest is important for final selection. The excursions will start at 09.00 and last till about 15.00. For the meat industry excursions are planned to: * broiler farm * broiler processing plant * cut-up plant For the egg industry excursions are planned to: * egg farm * egg processing plant/packing station Cut-up/deboning plant The company Broviand is a company strong in preparing raw fresh deboned poultry meat products as well from breast meat as from leg meat. The company is strongly organised for food safety (bone detection, tracking and tracing) and operates modern equipment in a flexible way in a modern building. Egg farm/packing station The Ovocare Food Group is controlling the shell egg chain from beginning till the end. In a combined egg farm/packing station information will be provided about the egg farm (cage system on video, access to an alternative farming system) and the packing station (a large grading and packing machine is combined with a new tracking and tracing system (www.ovotrack.nl) that can handle as well the eggs from their own farm as eggs from different farms, keeping track of the eggs from entering the packing station up to each individual egg tray or egg box leaving the packing station). At the same site a newly developed farmshop (www.ovivo.nl) with eggs, egg based products and other regionally recognised special food products will be visited.”
