The meeting will begin with a symposium on August 6th, which will be an update on zoonotic avian influenza outbreaks, particularly HPAI H5N1 and most recently, H7N9 outbreaks in humans in China. The featured address for this symposium will be by Dr. Robert O-Connor. Also included will be a presentation on data collection and analysis for effective prevention and control of zoonotic diseases as well as on communicating science-based information to non-scientists e.g. legislators, the media, and the general public. The symposium will conclude with a presentation on the One Health Initiative.
The scientific program will take place from August 7th to 9th..
