February 20, 2005 - February 25, 2005 OTA, OGUN STATE - NIGERIA The Nigeria International Poultry Summit is planned to be a biennial event of the WPSA-NB taking place in Nigeria, Africa and involving the meeting of all local and international experts and other stakeholders in the poultry industry. The summit is part of the WPSA-NB contribution to the economic development of Nigeria and the world at large. These summits shall exchange knowledge on the state of Poultry Industry Worldwide with special emphasis on Nigeria and Africa. The focus of the first summit to be held in February 2005 is the emerging opportunities for the poultry industry in West Africa and Nigeria in particular. The increase in human population, political stability, improved social infrastructures, the introduction of West African common currency, New partnership for African development (NEPAD), free trade zones, lower tariffs and many other favourable economic policies by the government of West African countries have created tremendous opportunities for investment in the poultry industry in West Africa. Objectives of First NIPS • To provide a forum for the exchange and utilization of information on the emerging opportunities for poultry production in West Africa. • To facilitate a substantial increase in the market demand and supply for high quality poultry products in West Africa. • To facilitate adequate public and private sector support for the poultry industry in West Africa. More details * The summit main programmes shall take place at the main hall of Temperance Hotel, Ogun State, Nigeria. * Registered accompanying persons shall be invited to participate in all social events of the summit as well as join other rewarding events that will coincide with the scientific programme. * A professional exhibition shall be held in conjunction with the summit. All details will be given in the second announcement. * A fully equipped press center will be available to our accredited journalists worldwide throughout the summit. * Citizens of some countries require visa to enter Nigeria. Some could be obtained at the entrance, but some must be fulfilled prior to entrance. Please contact the Nigeria Embassy or consulate in your country. * The Secretariat will send an official letter of invitation to participants of the summit upon registration. This letter will be used to assist the participant in obtaining a visa or travel assistance and does not constitute any commitment on the part of the organisers to provide financial support or agree to the acceptance of a paper. * February is the dry season with average temperature range between 28 degrees celsius to 35 degrees celsius in the south west - including Ogun State and Lagos. * Generally Nigerians are informal dressers. We suggest participants bring a jacket and tie for special occasions and a light jacket is recommended for the evenings. * The official language of the summit shall be English Language. * Agrobrokers International Limited has been appointed as the official promoter of the First NIPS.
