Information
On behalf of the Scientific and Organising Committees and The Council of the UK Branch of WPSA, I am pleased to invite you to participate in the 17th ESPN which will be held in Edinburgh, Scotland on 23-27th August, 2009.

The European Symposium is a popular, successful series and provides an international forum for the discussion and exchange of ideas, on all aspects related to poultry nutrition. It follows the previous sixteen Symposia, the first of which was held in Denmark in 1977 and the most recent of which was held in Strasbourg, in 2007 and attended by about 600 delegates from academia, research, industry and government.

There will be ample opportunity for exhibitors as well as presenters to present their wares as well as to indulge in social activities in and around Edinburgh, the capital city of Scotland. In Edinburgh history towers above you. The castle clings to its rock and in its shadow the ancient buildings at the top of the Old Town ramble down the spine of the Royal Mile to the splendid Palace of Holyroodhouse. Across the green expanse of Princes Street gardens lies the elegant Georgian New Town, teeming with shops and restaurants.

A year-round programme of arts and festivals, music concerts, theatre and dance, fabulous art collections, fascinating museums and many green, leafy parks and gardens - no wonder Edinburgh is often voted the most popular UK city in which to live (Guardian Travel Awards) or to visit (Condé Nast).

Home of the Scottish Parliament, the Scottish Government and many international headquarters of banks and financial institutions, it also leads the way in law, commerce and information technology. For hundreds of years, Edinburgh''s universities have fostered academic excellence in many fields, and it currently leads in research in everything from political economy and medicine to micro-engineering, life sciences and artificial intelligence.

Edinburgh''s compact city centre makes it an ideal city for strolling around. With Edinburgh Castle as your compass, you will find many of the city''s facilities within walking distance of the principal hotels. Venues in the surrounding area are quickly and easily accessible.
