With a population of 80 million, Vietnam is today one of the fastest growing countries in Asia. After Vietnam becomes a member of WTO, Asian Development Bank (ADB) confirmed that export will be more favourable while domestic demand also grows strongly, ADB''s Asia Prospect Report 2007 predicts that Vietnam will obtain GDP growth rate of 8.3% in 2007 and 8.5% in 2008.
According to MARD, Vietnam''s livestock sector registered a very encouraging 8.9% average annual growth rate over the last six years due to farmers that have shifted from small scale household breeding to large scale farming. Large - scale animal farmers are now applying advanced scientific technology in hybrid development, fodder production and farming. The Government''s proper farm development policies have also helped increase the country''s number of livestock farms from 1,761 in 2001, to 17,721 in 2006. At the same time, this growth has resulted in increased demand for feed and in turn attracted investments in new feedmills.
VIETSTOCK 2008 is perfectly timed for industry players to capture these growth opportunities. It is an event that provides suppliers a marketing platform to capitalise on the tremendous business opportunity in Vietnam today.
