SIAL looks ahead to tomorrow's market trends. The "Trends & Innovations Area" spotlights a selection new products. In 2004, 510 products from 40 countries were selected by SIAL committee.

Since 1964, SIAL presents the food market innovations and showcases the dynamism of the exhibitors.

More than 1,400 participants eager to hear the latest thinking and exchange views on nutrition were at the nutrition forum Agora Nutrition in 2004.

NUTRITION, THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE FOR THE 3RD MILLENNIUM

The importance of healthy eating in the prevention of disease and the implications for the food industry have now become imperative. SIAL, whose role is to facilitate the exchange of information between industry professionals, the media and the authorities on key food-related issues, has gone well beyond its usual remit by creating the NUTRITION VILLAGE.

- Agora

A forum for the exchange of ideas,talks and debates at the hub of the Nutrition Village. The place to gather information about international and industry initiatives to promote healthy eating. A programme developed in association with IREMAS, “Institut pour la Recherche en Marketing de l´Alimentation Santé” (“Institute for Research into Promoting Healthy Eating”).

- Lounge

A hospitality area in the village for confidential discussions. Entertain your customers in comfort. A bar and two meeting rooms for cocktail parties and receptions are also at your disposal.

A SUCCESSFUL KICK-OFF

In 2004, pre-empting the challenge presented to the food industry by the link between nutrition and health, SIAL created the nutrition forum, Agora Nutrition:

An information centre dealing with global problems of nutrition and the strategies developed by the industry as a response.

22 talks and round-table discussions brought together 1,500 French and international food industry professionals (nutritionists, sociologists, manufacturers, scientists and representatives from nutrition-related institutions...).

A PLACE TO MEET AND EXCHANGE IDEAS

As always, SIAL welcome many VIPs as members of official delegations and/or as speakers at the talks which drew record numbers of participants, reflecting the important and challenging nature of the topics under discussion.

AN EXCEPTIONAL MEDIA COVER

1400 journalists were at SIAL (newspaper, TV, radios, agencies...). In 2004, 257 TV passages, 802 articles published in French newspapers and more than 420 abroad.
