Annual British Society of Animal Science Meeting

April 4, 2005
United Kingdom
General Info
April 4, 2005 - April 6, 2005 University of York York - UNITED KINGDOM The Society's aim is to enhance the understanding of animal sciences and their integration into Animal Production. To achieve this the Society runs conferences, workshops and meetings for those interested in animal science to meet and exchange information, ideas and experiences. It also produces the Society Journal, Animal Science, six times a year. The Society has around 1,000 members, with a third from overseas, including developing countries. The members come from research, education, advisory work, industry and farming backgrounds with a wide range of interests. Every Spring BSAS holds it Annual Conference in York, England. This attracts some 500-600 delegates to discuss and debate some 200 academic papers on all aspects of Animal Science and Production and related topics. A series of invited expert speakers give papers on specially selected topic themes that change each year. The meeting offers a once a year opportunity to interact with the UK's top animal scientists as well as those from Europe and overseas. The World Poultry Science Associations and International Society of Applied Ethologists hold their list of information stored either in paper or electronic form at the BSAS office. PROGRAMME The 2004 BSAS Annual Meeting was an excellent one and 2005 is programmed to be even better. We have invited sessions on: * Genetic Evaluations * Breeding for Health * President's session * Farm Animals and Biodiversity * Developing Countries * Livestock and livelihoods * Lessons from Model Animal Species * Microbial Ecology of the Gut * Immunology for Health and Production We would like papers, theatre or poster, that fit these sessions as well as topics reflecting any aspect of animal science including equines and companion animals. In 2005 poster papers will get enhanced profile with dedicated plenary sessions, with no competing theatre sessions. If you have a series of papers that you think could make up a specific theatre, poster or discussion session please talk to us. We are interested in all ideas.
