The Applied Swine Nutrition Program in the Department of Animal Science at Iowa State University, in partnership with the Iowa Pork Industry Center, is pleased to present to you the International Conference on Swine Nutrition. The Conference will be held on August 11-12, 2021, at the Scheman Building on the Iowa State University campus in Ames, IA.
The theme of the conference is “Bringing the World of Swine Nutrition to Ames.” Essentially, the program is built to discuss the latest information on where we are at today in swine nutrition and where we might be headed in the future. To this end, the program will feature more than a dozen leading authorities, selected from across the country as well as around the world.
The speakers have been intentionally selected to represent both industry and academia. They include veterans with many years of experience as well as newer people working in our field. Finally, they have been selected from across the U.S. and around the world – places like Denmark, Australia, Canada and China. We hope this breadth of experience as well as diversity of geography will help to make this an engaging and worthwhile experience for all attendees.
To further enhance the value of attending the conference, presentations will cover a wide range of topics. Some will provide information for immediate application while others will address innovations that we can expect to use in the future.
Conference objectives
This conference will mark the April, 2021 retirement of John Patience as Professor of Applied Swine Nutrition in the Department of Animal Science at Iowa State. It is being held, in large part, to say thanks to all those individuals, businesses, associations and agencies in the pork industry who have supported the Applied Swine Nutrition Program over the past 12½ years. None of the Applied Swine Nutrition program activities would have been possible without this outstanding show of support.
The conference has 2 additional objectives:
-
To discuss the current state of the art of swine nutrition through the eyes of thought and technology leaders from around the world.
-
To look into the future of pork production and see what lies ahead in terms of both challenges and opportunities.
