It gives us great pleasure to invite you to the 6th Greenhouse Gas and Animal Agriculture Conference (GGAA2016), from 14 to 18 February 2016, to be held in Melbourne, Australia.
Held every three years, this Conference is expected to attract over 400 participants from all over the world with strong representation from Australia, New Zealand, Asia and the Oceania region. It presents a unique opportunity to bring together researchers, scientists, practitioners, experts and enthusiasts from a range of professional interests and disciplines across the field of agricultural animal greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and management. Previous GGAA Conferences have been held in Ireland, Canada, New Zealand, Switzerland and Japan.
Who will attend
This scientific meeting will attract speakers and delegates from around the globe and builds on previous successful meetings in the series. Delegates will include representatives from industry, government and science all with an interest in managing GHG emissions from livestock, manure and soils.
The conference will publish all abstracts in proceedings and all contributors will have the opportunity to publish their paper in a special edition of Animal Production Science, to be available on USB at the start of the conference.
Conference session themes will include:
-
Global perspectives and policy
-
Recent advances in the measurement of methane and nitrous oxide
-
Advances in understanding biology and biochemistry of livestock emissions
-
New advances in the mitigation of methane emissions from livestock
-
Mitigation of methane and nitrous oxide from excreta and manure management
-
Livestock mitigation in practice
-
Whole farm systems modeling of mitigation options
-
Advances in process level modeling of livestock emissions
Key objectives
-
Advance the science of reducing GHG emissions from livestock production, soils and manure
-
Debate the policy and industry context for GHG research
-
Accelerate progress in GHG abatement by bringing the key players together
-
Focus on GHG research in developing and tropical countries
-
Promote the exchange of the latest advancements
-
Foster new ideas for innovative research
-
Provide a sound scientific basis for both international (IPCC) and domestic policy development
-

The conference will feature leading scientists and policymakers who will review the current state of knowledge and present significant new developments and advancements in the measurement, modelling and mitigation of greenhouse gasses from animal agriculture. All registered delegates will have the opportunity to publish their research in a peer reviewed special edition of Animal Production Science, with all abstracts published in the conference proceedings. Attendees of the conference are also encouraged to take part in a number of scientific satellite events and workshops that will precede the main conference.
While the conference is focused on research and associated policy developments it will also be of value to research investors, government policy makers, farm advisers and representatives from the livestock industries.
In addition to an excellent scientific program, we have also prepared an exciting social program that will provide delegates an opportunity to explore, indulge and relax during their stay in Melbourne.
