India - Animal Industry Seminar and Students Program at IAI Expo 2007

This year edition of the Indian Animal Industry Exposition to be held in August 16-18, will present an international seminar about growth and development of the animal industry in India.

The tentative list of the topics to be covered is the following:

* Futuristic Feed Inputs - Non-conventional Agri-byproducts
* Disaster Management
* Impact of Cooperatives on Growth of Animal Industry (Has the model worked?)
* IPR and Conservation of Bio-diversity - it's Impact on Animal Industry
* Gaushalas and their Management - Problems and Future
* Fodder Production - It's current Status and Availability of Seeds
* India's Foreign Trade in Livestock and Fisheries Products
* Bio-Technology - It's Impact on Animal Industry

Students Active Participation at the Expo

The IAI Expo 2007 is organizing a student's program. The Program is scheduled on 16-18 August 2007 at Pragati Maidan New Delhi.

Dr. Ajit S. Ranade, Professor and University Head, Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University, Deptt. of Poultry Sciences, Bombay Veterinary College (Mumbai), is the Convener of the program. Dr. Ranade will head a large contingent of students of veterinary colleges from all over the country to participate in the IAI Expo 2007.

Student's program is named as IAI for students (Industry Awareness and interaction for students 2007). The program comprises poster session where in students of veterinary colleges and universities will present their vision as a whole through poster competition.

The Topics for the poster competition are:

* Future Prospects of the Livestock Industry in India.
* Innovations in Livestock Products Marketing.
* Livestock Industry: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.
* Value Addition in Livestock Products.
* Veterinarian in Livestock Industry in India.
* Livestock Industry Impact on Society.
* Animal Husbandry as Support to Agriculture.

These posters will remain displayed during the expo.

The Expo being organized by Pixie Publication has so far received 37 nominations from 17 colleges. It is expected that about 10 more nominations would be received by the last date taking the total number to about 50. The interaction at the show is aimed at creating awareness amongst the students about the industry.

IAI Expo 2007 has received consent from 34 veterinary Colleges so far. These are Bombay Veterinary College (Mumbai), Veterinary College (Namakkal), Veterinary College (Palampur), Veterinary College (Kolkata), Veterinary College (Pantnagar), NTR College (Andhra Pradesh), PGIVS (Akola), Veterinary College (Tirupati), Veterinary College Rajendranagar (Hyderabad), Veterinary College (Ludhiana), Apollo College of Veterinary Medicine (Jaipur), Veterinary College Assam (Guwahati), Haryana College of Veterinary Sciences, Rachi Veterinary College , Veterinary College (Shival), Nagpur Veterinary College, Veterinary College (Parbhani).
